Missouri Botanical Garden
4651 Shaw Blvd.
St. Louis, MO 63110

Founded in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden is the nation's oldest botanical garden in continuous operation and a National Historic Landmark.  The Garden is a center for botanical research and science education, as well as an oasis in the city of St. Louis.  The Garden has a myriad of facility management demands, all in a beautiful setting.  Come join Facility Engineer John Biggs on a walking tour to see behind the scenes and learn:

  • About the buildings on site, including the Climatron, greenhouses, Tower Grove House, and even more than you expect
  • how the greenhouses and conservatories are environmentally controlled and maintained,
  • where the systems serving the buildings are concealed and how they are distributed,
  • how special events are supported by Garden staff,
  • and how much water is used and where does it come from?

Guests must wear closed-toed shoes as we will be walking on uneven surfaces and in wet locations.
